How Set 2 Serve Works...
We seek to "bridge the gap" by bringing the Austin tennis community together.

Members of the Austin tennis community donate and contribute in many ways. Coaches volunteer their time to teach students and they can also help by mentoring new coaches in the "Coaches helping Coaches " program. Junior competitive players get to mentor new players by showing what it takes to be a dedicated athlete.  Set 2 Serves mentoring program embodies Coach Kevin's philosophy of " When one teaches, two learn!"  Parents get to volunteer at Set 2 Serve events and anyone/everyone can donate equipment, which Set 2 Serve then refurbishes and distributes. Finally, local tennis programs provide scholarships (discounted lessons during the summer and school year, Austin Tennis Academy and South West Austin Tennis,SWAT have both stepped up) in order to provide an opportunity for those who would otherwise not have it. Those who desire these scholarships submit an essay to Set 2 Serve and share what they would do with the opportunity. The Board reviews the applications and awards the scholarships. The Scholarship for Success program is in full swing.

The impact of these efforts is multifaceted. The Austin tennis community expands in its combining and sharing of resources. Kids who currently have significant opportunities with tennis find renewed appreciation. Kids who are receiving new opportunities find renewed hope.  And the number of kids in the gap between is continually reduced as the local tennis community expands. The life skills embodied by Set 2 Serve and its events impact all participants - young and old, experienced or inexperienced, privileged or underprivileged.
